On graduating from the University of Northumberland in Newcastle she came to London and launched her first collection in Libertys.
Her thoughts turned to mens wear when asked to design shirts for a friend who had landed a job as a television presenter. This was to be the birth of the ‘pauline burrows shirt.’
The label developed a cult following and was sold in prime boutiques across the UK. Stores such as Matches, Browns, The Library and Harrods all stocked the collection.
In 1997 the first pauline burrows retail outlet was opened in the Oxo Tower on London’s South Bank. The label soon became popular with bands such as the Style Council and David Bowie and celebrities ranging from Placido Domenco to Graham Norton and Emma Thompson.
2001 saw the opening of the pauline burrows Boutique in Shelton St, 7 Dials. This little boutique tucked away in Shelton St, is an oasis of calm away from the hustle and bustle of Covent Garden.
The store offers exclusive clothing for both men and women, available off the peg, bespoke or made to measure.
